Research that combines academia, practice and impact

I design and deliver mixed-methods research that brings together academic rigour, practical understanding and a commitment to making research useful.

My approach draws on nearly two decades of experience working in and leading services and organisations, alongside my academic background in social policy. This combination helps me design research that is methodologically robust, grounded in the realities of practice, and focused on generating evidence that can inform meaningful change.

I have particular expertise in qualitative and participatory approaches, including involving people with lived experience in shaping research questions, methods and findings.

Research design

Developing research questions, methodologies and practical plans that are grounded, feasible and tailored to your context.

Participatory research

Involving people with lived experience in shaping research questions, design, data collection, analysis and dissemination.

Literature, evidence and policy reviews

Synthesising existing research, policy and practice evidence to inform strategy, service development and advocacy.

Qualitative and quantitative data collection

Designing and delivering interviews, focus groups, surveys and other methods, independently or as part of a wider team

Analysis and interpretation

Analysing and interpreting data to generate clear, nuanced and credible findings, including facilitating joint analysis with people with lived experience.

Reporting and recommendations

Producing accessible, well-evidenced reports and practical recommendations for policy, practice and decision-making..

My research spans a range of social policy questions, with particular experience in:

Housing & homelessness

Migration & asylum

Trauma & mental health

Poverty & inequality

Equity & inclusion

Social policy & public services

I have a ton of research ideas that I’m keen to develop and bring to life. I’d love to connect with potential collaborators, research partners and funders who share my interests.

I’m also always interested in hearing from organisations and individuals looking for research support, whether you’re just mulling things over or have a specific brief to fill.
